Kia Ora Kids Newsletter🧸🐛
November/December 2024
Kia ora koutou,
We are excited to be moving towards the end of the year with lots of exciting events around Auckland such as a Teddy Bears Picnic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Picnic, Playgroups, Mini Gym, Party Kingdom and Christmas Parties. You are very welcome to attend if you can, your educator has all the details. This year we ask you to provide one wrapped and named book for our Christmas fairy to deliver to your child at the Christmas Party. Please give this to your educator by the end of November.
At our Playgroups we have recently discussed and celebrated Diwali and as Christmas draws near we will be discussing and celebrating Christmas with music, books and crafts. Christmas is also a great opportunity to teach children the joy of generosity. Clinical child psychologist and Deakin University Professor Jennifer McIntosh says when it comes to nurturing generosity and empathy, it’s vital children are shown ‘the roots of empathy’ from a very early age. Ways we can do this at home is to involve children in choosing and gifting a donation for a local food or toy bank or making some Christmas presents for friends and family.
Christmas Holidays/Office Closed🎄: It’s that time of year, if you haven’t already, please discuss your holiday requirements with your educator so the office can be informed.
Our office will be closed from 18th December – 6th January
Sun Protection Policy 😎
Kia ora Kids Sun Protection Policy applies from 1st September – 31 April (between 10am and 4pm) when UV levels reach their peak.
Parents and whānau are asked to provide a sunhat and sunscreen (which may be left at the nurturing home) for their child. Sun hats are to be a type with broad brim, (legionnaire/ bucket hat) to fully protect the top of their head, neck, face and ears. Children will also be required to wear shirts or rash suits whenever outside, even when engaging in water play. Children who do not have appropriate hats or outdoor clothing are required to play in the shade or indoors.
Sunscreen: Sunscreen is applied at least 10-20 minutes before going outdoors and re-applied every two hours. Please let your educator know if you would like to see our full Sun Protection Policy.
We have been busy updating our website https://kiaorakids.co.nz/ facebook https://www.facebook.com/Kiaorakids/ and instagram page https://www.instagram.com/kia_ora_kids/?hl=en (check us out if you haven’t already).
