Meet Nimmi
Kia Ora,
I’m a qualified and passionate Early Childhood Educator with 19 years childcare experience. I have 2 children of my own, my 29 year old son has already flown from the nest, and my 20 year old daughter is ready to fly from the nest. I am based in Waiata Shores, Takanini which is a very convenient location close to the motorway. I have a deep commitment to nurture curiosity in children and encourage them to become independent thinkers with a strong sense of self. Your child will have best of both worlds, a small group setting and an experienced, loving, caring mother.

My Background and Experience
I hold an ECE level 4 qualification, current first aid certification, clean police vet and I have been educator for over 19 years.
My Home-Based Childcare Philosophy
For me, the most important aspect is the understanding of each individual child and I believe this is my strongest attribute to bring to this profession. My aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where the child feels emotionally, psychologically, and physically safe. I provide a warm, safe, loving environment where your child will have their learning and development enhanced in an ‘in home’ setting. Ratios are small and your child will get individual love, care, and attention. I love using the environment as a ‘third teacher’, where I follow the children’s interests and schemas, providing provocations and invitations for learning. I aspire to develop reciprocal and meaningful relationships with children, families and educator through communication and interaction. I respect families for their personal beliefs and cultures.
My Learning Environment
My brand new home is very warm and cozy and has a large fully fenced backyard with a big deck for kids activities with lots of room for the children to run around and play and garden. The children’s play area is set up in the insulated double garage, with a big glass door for sunshine and visibility for kids to call their very own.
We attend regular outings, library visits and playgroups with mainly music. We also love to explore the playgrounds, parks, beaches with our peers from other educators, providing children the opportunity of peer socialisation and the ability to interact in a bigger group setting, but with the safety and comfort of knowing their ‘at home’ educator is close by and enjoying the playtime with them.
After busy mornings we have quiet time in the afternoon for little ones to sleep and older ones to do quiet activities like drawing, colouring, crafts etc.
Family Testimonials
We are very blessed and thankful to have met Nimmi. Nimmi is very loving and patient with Sierra, we know that Sierra is in good hands and when we drop her off in the morning, we know she’s going to a fun, safe and very loving homey environment. Nimmi is also very good with encouraging Sierra to learn to do things on her own nurturing a sense of responsibility as she grows. This in turn helps her to be comfortable to be herself and build up her confidence. Thank you Nimmi! 🙂
Auntie Nimmi is truly exceptional! For nearly two years, she has been looking after my son, and I have complete confidence that he is in excellent hands with her. She treats him like family, and he has gained so much from her guidance. Her approachable nature makes it easy to communicate, and I am grateful to have her in our lives.
I would like to thank you for loving Earl as your own, for teaching him new skills, for helping him to develop his confidence and for fostering their early friendships. You work alongside with me and understands as a single mum. You expose Earl to new experiences and to foster his emerging interests. Thank you for delighting in his milestones, the activities he’ve learned at daycare, and his burgeoning sense of humour. You have given me a peace of mind when I drop Earl off each morning at the gas station – even when its not your scope of work to help me pick up and drop off (as I don’t have car)(appeciate it soo much) , Earl’s wellbeing is at the front of your minds and you’re doing your job well makes a world of difference for us working parents. Your patience and kindness have made such a difference in Earl’s life. Thank you for being an amazing teacher! Thank you for creating such a fun and nurturing environment for Earl to learn and grow. Your dedication to early childhood education is inspiring. We appreciate the way you go above and beyond to make the daycare a second home for our little one. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Nimmi is an excellent home based carer. She’s kind, caring, accommodating and reliable. She has a beautiful set up in her home with lots of activities for the kids to do. She also takes them on outings to playgroup/mainly music, the library, playground etc and also to group events eg butterfly creek, the museum. She’s been a safe space for my daughter, who settled in quickly, and is someone she trusts and loves.
