My Background and experience
I have a wealth of knowledge and over a decade of experience working with children. I also have the insight of being a mother to my own two boys. My experience in early childhood education has equipped me with the tools to support and nurture young minds, while motherhood has taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and adaptability. These dual roles have enriched my understanding of child development and education, allowing me to create engaging and supportive learning environments that cater to the diverse needs of children.
My Home-Based Childcare Philosophy
Being a home-based educator creates a unique learning setting which allows me to foster a deeply personal, enriching learning environment, where every child’s needs are attentively listened to and tenderly met.
My approach, deeply rooted in the philosophy of Te Whariki and play learning, revolves around crafting bespoke learning experiences that celebrate the individuality of each child, encouraging them to explore, connect and thrive at their own pace.
My Environment
My learning environment Emphasizes the beauty of learning within the familiar warmth of a home setting, I keenly observe, engage, and inspire, facilitating moments of discovery and growth that are as meaningful as they as memorable. With a decade of heartfelt dedication in home-based education here in New Zealand, I am passionate about continuing to create a nurturing, vibrant space where children feel valued, understood, and excited to learn each day. I love to provide a variety of learning experiences through resources the children are interested in, these include painting, baking, puzzles, letter learning, trains and tracks, picture cards, kitchen play, story time ect and many more! We also explore the community by going to local play groups and parks.
Family Testimonial
As a parent, you want and need the best. I chose home-based childcare because I wanted values. Wendy outstandingly went beyond to make this happen, with home baking, teaching life skills, ect. I just love my decision to choose home-based childcare, an I would recommend Wendy to anyone
Wendy was a big part of my two boys’ lives both from a young age until they were ready for school. As a family, we cherish the time they spent in her care. She always keeps us updated with the fun activities they got up to during the day. Both our boys 9 and 13 often speak of Wendy. The environment she creates si warm and inviting and the kids are always doing new and fun activities and going out for outings. We feel very lucky that both our boys flourished under her care and we highly recommend her!
Our son has been with Wendy since he was 10 months old and now he is almost four! He loves going to Wendy’s, it sure is a home away from home. Wendy is warm, and caring and is like a second mum to him. I feel so at ease knowing that he will be taken care of whenever he is there. He has learned so many life skills there and has developed great friendships and social skills with his friends and from their local play-groups and music. We are very lucky to have found Wendy!
We were so fortunate and feel privileged to have had Wendy caring for our two children from newborn to school ready. A home away from home. The environment of Wendy’s home-based childcare fell nothing short of perfect. Always fun activities planned, walks, baking, cool craft, play, reading and a personal diary with pictures and stories of their journey together. I personally learnt a lot from Wendy and was sad when the kids time had finished. Her natural warmth and caring nature made it so easy dropping the children off. Brooklyn thirteen and Lila-Grace ten, still talk about her fondly. I would one hundred percent recommend her.
Our daughter Lily Nadan has been in Chrissy’s care since 8th July 2013. Lily was originally in a daycare where she constantly got sick; it was extremely disruptive to both mine and my partner’s jobs, as well as a horrible time for my little girl. I found out about Amanda’s through a work colleague, set up an appointment to meet Chrissy and we haven’t looked back! It was absolutely the best decision we have ever made. Chrissy provides a safe, nurturing environment for Lily to learn and grow in, which she has done since she has been in Chrissy’s care. Chrissy quickly ascertained Lily’s personality and adapted her teaching style to suit Lily’s individual needs. Lily is doing extremely well developmentally and thrives in the informative and creative surroundings that Chrissy provides. Chrissy encourages Lily’s learning and is a firm but reassuring hand when it comes to teaching Lily what is acceptable behaviour and what isn’t. Chrissy works very closely with my partner and I as to what our beliefs are (Lily is half Fijian Indian) and what our goals and aspirations are for Lily and her future. I love the fact that Chrissy takes Lily to Music, Playgroup, to the park, to pet stores and also to another Amanda’s carer – Tracy’s house. Lily gets the best of both worlds in the sense that she gets to interact with other children and be stimulated when she goes out to any of the above mentioned places, but also gets one on one time just her and Chrissy at home which I think is incredibly beneficial for Lily’s confidence. Chrissy has been a great communicator, she will text during the day if she has any concerns or just has any general updates, she also writes in a little notebook daily which I find great as it shows me what she has done during the day, but also helps me establish a routine at home during the weekends too as I can see when she usually gets tired and sleeps during the week days and approximately when she has her lunch. We also get monthly updates from Bronwyn via a development report which reiterates how well Lily is doing in Chrissy’s care, and also highlights Chrissy’s skills as a carer. I can’t recommend Chrissy highly enough, she has been amazing with Lily and we are very happy.
