Kia ora community, my name is Jana.
I am a certified Early Childhood Educator with over 14 years of experience, originally from Germany and now based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. As a mother of two young children, I bring both professional knowledge and personal insight into my home-based childcare, creating a calm, loving environment where children feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

My Background and experience
I have spent 17 years as an Educator (now Nanny) with Porse and now Kia Ora Kids. There are lots of important issues when working with young children and adults – their wellbeing is very important, providing a sense of belonging, valuing their contributions, and encouraging any opportunities to communicate. I like to provide chances for young children to explore, learn and play in a safe environment. I work in the child’s home, and travel to places like Playgroup, Playschool and kindy as and when necessary.
My Home-Based Childcare Philosophy
My approach is gently inspired by Steiner philosophy and guided by the principles of Te Whāriki. I believe children thrive in a warm, unhurried environment where they feel secure, respected, and connected.

Each child is seen as an individual, and I support their natural development, interests, and unique pace of learning.
My learning Environment
In our small, family-like setting, children are welcomed into a peaceful and nurturing home environment. Our space is shared with our gentle spoodle, Tui, and two friendly bunnies, giving children opportunities to build caring connections with animals.
Through hands-on experiences and a calm atmosphere, children are supported to develop confidence, curiosity, and a genuine sense of belonging.
My Commitment
My goal is to provide a true “home away from home” where every child feels cherished, supported, and encouraged to grow with confidence, curiosity, and joy.
